What is the Practice Register?
The Practice Register is a system we have put in place which will ensure you are getting the practice and support you need as quickly as possible so that you can grow your confidence and skill levels.
The purpose of the Practice Register is two fold:
- Enable students and graduates to get more practice once they’ve completed their training.
- Ensure that students and graduates have the opportunity to receive feedback from their peers and work through any challenges or confidence issues they may be experiencing.
The Register is open to all graduates of RTT Online, RTT Professional or RTT Live courses
but you must be within membership. If you are an RTT Online Student, you will need to have completed up to Module 7.
When does the Practice Register open and close?
The practice register opens at 09:30 (GMT/BST) on the 24th of each month and closes on the last day of the month at 17:30 (GMT/BST) (unless either of these days fall on a weekend then it will be the next working day) - these dates and times are also in your RTT online calendar for reference.
When the practice register opens a post will be created in the RTT Forum and Alumni Facebook group which will be pinned to the top of the group as an announcement.
In this post you will find a link to a Practice Register Sign Up Form. You will need to fill out this form and submit your response in order to register for the Practice Register for the coming month (For example, February sign ups will take place during the last week of January; March sign ups will take place during the last week of February; and so on).
For every session you deliver you will also receive a session. You have the option of choosing to give/receive between 1 - 3 sessions each month. Please only commit to the amount of sessions you will be able to deliver and receive within this time period.
On the last day of the month when the practice register closes the sign up link will be removed and you will no longer be able to sign up for that month's practice register.
When am I notified of my practice partner?
You will receive your partner(s) details via email up to 2 days after the practice register closes and it is then your responsibility to contact your partner(s) directly.
Partners are allocated randomly, we do our best to assign people who are in similar time zones so if you sign up to the practice register on a regular basis in some cases you might be allocated a partner you have already worked with.
Once you have received a session please complete the feedback form for your partner. A link to this will be included in the email sent to you with your partner(s) details. We are here to support everyone. In any case where there are concerns about an individual therapist or a client, use this as an opportunity to get them additional support by flagging up their needs with the support team. This is not ‘tell tailing’ but rather a helpful way to resolve any problems. Please use the Feedback Form or contact firstname.lastname@example.org outlining any of your concerns.
Building A Busy Practice (BABP)
If you are RTT Online or RTT Online with Mentoring looking to gain access to Building a Busy Practice you are required to participate in 3 practice sessions via the register and then 7 with friends/family or privately arranged sessions (non paying clients) to make a total of 10 sessions. If you are RTT Professional you will receive access to Building a Busy Practice once you have completed your extended learning.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
If you are a graduate of RTT Professional or RTT Live, you are required to complete at least 6 Practice Register sessions as the therapist in the first year of your training.
